Super fast laptop repair service in Chicopee, MA
Laptop replacement parts and laptop virus removal
Laptop hardware problems are not easy to deal with, most mechanically inclined people know not to attempt to do these kind of repairs on there own. The problem is the parts and screws are small and hard to keep track of. The parts are made of thin plastic and will snap or crack really easy.
After a person has successfully taken apart and reassembled a couple dozen different laptop models the repair process stars to get easier. Laptop manufactures try to at least make it easy to replace a hard drive, but even this is difficult in most models.
I will usually not work on a laptop if some one else has already cracked it open. I can tell just by looking at them whether they have been worked on, however, my repair work is visually undetectable, this has to do with the specialty tools I use and my 14 years of professional experience.
People that take a broken laptop into a retail store for repair will most likely be quoted a very inflated price for the repair. This is because retail stores do not want to repair laptops, they want to sell brand new laptops. Insisting on having them repair it will require them to ship it out of state to a hug repair facility, it will take weeks if not months for the repairs to get done. After people get their laptops back is when the real headaches begin.
Most retail stores in Western Mass can not afford to pay a full time skilled bench technician to do laptop repairs in the store. The kids that work at the stores are there to set up and configure brand new laptops with Windows 8 for customers that do not want to spend hours setting up their laptop for its first use. Most computer savvy people prefer to configure their own computers for first time use. When people buy a computer from me it will come preconfigured, I also setup and configure new computers for people that have purchased them somewhere else.
Having a laptop serviced is like having a car serviced, people are usually going to get a better price and a better quality repair dealing with a small independently owned repair shop. Replacing a hardware part should take a day, not a few weeks or months. I have hard countless stories of people waiting months to get their laptop back form these retail stores. Do not get me wrong, I like these stores, their stuff is cheap and the kids that work their are knowledgeable about what they are selling. I buy some of my supplies from Best Buy in Holyoke, MA because their sale prices are usually cheaper then buying from other online stores. I also like that there is not a restocking fee if I make a return. They only sell hardware from known, respectable manufacturers. I can feel confident that I am buying first quality brand name hardware.
Dell Aleinware laptops repaired, all models, any part fixed or replaced
within 3 days
This type of laptop is more complexes to work on then other laptops. I specialize in the repair of this type of gaming laptop and do not charge a premium for the extra labor and skill that is involved with the repair process.
Laptop LCD screen replacement
A new OEM LCD screen will cost $100 to $150 depending on the size and model of the screen and $50 for the installation labor. The turnaround time is one to three days depending on whether the screen is locally available or has to be ordered. The repair comes with a 30 day warranty.
Laptop hard drive replacement
This repair will cost $95 for a 1000 GB, brand new Seagate SATA hard drive and $50 for installation. Installation includes reinstalling the original Windows OEM operating system, drivers, anti-virus software and office software. If data recovery is needed it is $30 extra in labor. If the data can not be recovered from the old hard drive there will be no charge. Sold State hard drives and older style IDE, ATA 2.5" hard drives are available, one day turnaround time.
Loose laptop DC power jack connector replacement
This is when you have to wiggle the power cord connection in order to get power to the laptop, eventually the laptop completely stops getting power. If the power jack is soldered to the motherboard the repair is $195, this is expensive, some places may do it for less. This is the only service I charge a premium for, it is not an easy repair and to do the job right it takes time. Some repair shops will Jerry rig the broken connection instead of properly soldering and replacing the broken part, this kind of fix will last for a few weeks before it becomes loose again. I give a 90 day warranty, some other places do not warranty this type of repair at all.
Laptop DC Power
jack connections not soldered to the motherboard
A simple plug-in harness, will cost $20 for the replacement jack and $50 for installation. Toshiba makes a lot of laptops this way and some newer laptops are manufactured this way. This is a very competitive price that will be hard to bet. I can tell people head of time what type of power jack they need and exactly how much it will cost. The turnaround repair time is one to three days.
Motherboard, logic board, PCB circuit board, replacement and repair
This repair job can cost anywhere from $200 to $300, this price is once again very competitive and will be hard to bet. If you can see something displaying on the screen when you first turn on the laptop you probably do not need to replace the board and if their is something wrong with the board it can be repaired, instead of replaced. This is mostly the case with laptops only, a desktop motherboard is more likely to have leaky capacitors, it will still be able to function, but with errors. The turnaround repair time is two to four days.
