mt-tom-comunication-mountain-holyoke-ma

MT. Tom Holyoke, MA is now a state reservation antenna farm that used to be a sky resort and popular amusement park, it closed in 1998.

The number of antennas that have gone up since closing has been enormous. The Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC) in Holyoke, MA uses some antennas for communications.

I was on top of the mountain a few months ago and it is being kept extremely secure. The reason environmentalists wanted to increase the endangered rattlesnake population in 2017 was to keep the public away. There is a colony of timber rattlesnakes living on MT. Tom as of 2021.

Random Access Memory (RAM) PC Computer Memory Modules

Everything you need to know about RAM in a nut shell
Ram memory is a storage point between the hard drive and the processor, the information the processor needs to work with quickly is stored in the RAM this is much faster then have the processor pulling and storing the information data directly from the hard drive. During the 1990's men used to determent there manhood by the amount of ram there computer had. Hard drive and processors were still slow back then and it seemed the only way to make your computer fast was to add as much RAM as you could. Now a days there are a lot more things involved with the computer to make it fast, ram is pretty much maxed out, once a modern computer has about 64GB of ram, ram isn't going to help it go any faster. Now it is up to other components to make it fast, but then again not to many people have 64GB of ram.

Laptops have very small amounts of ram because the manufactures want to get as much battery life a passable out of the battery. This is why laptops will forever be as slow as ever. Everybody said 20 years ago that the desktop computer would be obsolete by now and just the opposite has happened. Just like cars people want speed and performance so we still have gasoline engines. If you went back 40 years ago and told people that gasoline cars are still number one they would think you were lying, everyone believed 40 years ago cars would all be electric by now and there not, people want speed and performance not economy, heck people don't even want small smart phones anymore.

Well back to RAM memory, there are two types of ram there is the old type SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory) this was the stuff used up until the year 1999 it was known as pc100 and pc133. Then came DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate SDRAM) the fist generation of this would of been DDR1 and the second generation would of been DDR2 right now we seem to be at DDR4 the model numbers don't seem to have gone up much but the speed and specifications have kept going up none stop, all the time. Ram and other microchips are made of silicone.

Memory modules don't last forever, depending on how you take care of your computer will have a great deal in determining the lifespan of your ram. Some ram is just cheap quality and will die after a short amount of time. Give your computer a hard shut down is not good for system ram, viruses and malware can also cause havoc for system ram. Ram is especially sensitive to human touch, always handle ram with electrical protection connected to your body and most of all don't drop it, I see this all the time, people handing ram roughly and then it not working, please be as gentle as possible when handling it and don't touch the gold tips.

When ordering ram for a computer it is critical to cross reference with the motherboard manufacturer the exact model number and other specifications to ensure you are getting the current ram, I have seen time and time again were people don't do this and they can never find ram that works for there computer. The manufacture will have something called a pink sheet that will have every band and model of ram it will except. I can not emphasize how important it is to double check with the manufacturer about the type of ram your going to install. Remember when in doubt I may have it in stock or I can help you order and install it.
