People who are considering buying a laptop should know all their options before making the purchase. Being in the computer field I hear a lot of stories of people having serious problems with their laptops. For example, there is a much high theft rate with laptops, if you are working with sensitive information it is best to have it on a full size desktop computer. Most break-ins do not involve the theft of a desktop computer but will involve a laptop, also when a criminal sees a person with a laptop they are an open target for a robbery.

The next thing to consider is laptops are constantly breaking down and cost a lot more to fix then a desktop computer. The manufactures use the cheapest possible computer components they can get their hands on. This is why they are so cheap in price. The software programs that are preloaded on these computers are useless and nothing but spyware that bog down the system resources.

The best way to buy a computer is to get a custom built one made just for you. A custom made computer is designed and assembled by a professional computer technician.

Always insist on an Antec computer case and a Antec power supply rated 600 watts or over. I recommend an ADM or a Intel I7 quad core processor, at least 16 gigabytes (GB) of DDR3 or DDR4 random access memory (RAM). The motherboard has to be a MSI or Asus brand, never anything else! I like using a Intel chip set (BIOS) but I know most gamers like Nvidia. I would recommend a designated Nvidia graphics card, but ATI maybe preferred. Seagate is the best hard drive for the money and should be at least 3 terabytes (TB) in size and have SATA 6 with a 64 MB cache. I believe solid state hard drives are over rated, but their getting to become better. By using RAID I can configure something that is faster then a solid state drive.

These computer components are close to being the best in the world and are very reasonable in price. This type of computer will meet system standards for at least 10 years, buy a make and you are looking at a few years. The cost of a system of this quality is under a $1000 if built by me, if you were to order one from Dell or another computer box company it would cost over $2000 and not be as well assembled and warranted.

Desktop computers will always be needed for power computing, it used to be believed that laptops were going to take over. Laptops are designed to use as little power as possible, this means their good for Facebooking and email, that is about it. Do not get me wrong, I do own a few of them but I use them only when I am on the road. I could not survive with out a power full custom build and I am not a gamer.
